Client brief
To design and manufacture a handless kitchen.
Challenges
The client specified that they desired a large Island to accommodate storage, wine rack and to comfortably seat 3 to 4 adults. Also larder storage and integrated larder fridge and freezer were to be incorporated into the design.
Design Process
An initial on site meeting took place where the clients wish list was outlined. The building was at a very early stage of construction. Once a final layout was agreed, we then liaised with the electricians and plumbers to specify the location of electrical fittings and water pipe locations.
The client requested a 2 tone kitchen with the Island in a darker shade of grey then the main units. At this point we supplied the client with a number of painted samples. Once the colours were selected a quartz was chosen to complement both colours.
To tie the overall design together we decided to surround the larder and oven units with a large frame in the same colour as the island.
To achieve a less cluttered work-surface it was decided to install a Quooker boil water tap which negates the need to have a kettle and flex muddling up the counter top and has the benefit of having instant boiling water for cooking and ready for tea/coffee.
Time frame
We were involved at a very early stage of construction to consult with other trades to help provide a more stream lined build. Installation took 2 weeks.
Matterials
Handless doors are finished in Calva White with Hardwick white on the Island. Counter top is Silestone Blanco Maple. Quooker Fusion 3 in 1 tap.
